Spring Wedding Photography at Sissons Barn

sissons barn wedding at night

Heading into Spring bright eyed and bushy-tailed after a long winter’s break, I was super excited to photograph my first wedding at Sissons Barn and Peterborough Cathedral for Ellie and Steve! These guys had been so much fun to work with right from the word go, right down to sending me the cutest card when they secured their date, I knew their wedding would be one to remember.

It was really hard picking the pictures for this post because there were just so many memorable moments to choose from. Ellie’s mum really went the extra mile in making their house perfect for getting ready photos in the morning, it was almost as if I’d walked into a film set! There was so much light streaming in through the windows and no clutter hanging around where Ellie got ready, resulting in the most clean and tidy images I’ve ever taken. Brides-to-be take note, it’s always worth choosing a large space to get ready with ample window light if you want photos like these. It also sets you up to feel more relaxed if you have space to breathe.

While I was with the girls our second shooter Ben met up with Steve and his groomsmen in Peterborough city centre to greet guests arriving at the cathedral.  Ben also had an extra exciting (or terrifying!?) job to do for us as he scaled the dizzy heights of the cathedral to take some stunning ceremony shots from its balcony. Part of me was itching to do this, but knew Ben would absolutely ace it so stayed on the ground to capture Ellie walking down the aisle with dad. It was pretty vital to have two photographers at this wedding due to the locations and number of guests, many of the shots would simply not have been possible with just one shooter.

After family photos and a few drinks at the cathedral it was time to head over to Sissons Barn. Sissons have been running wedding for years but this was one of the very first they’d hosted in their brand new oak barn. Decked out with the most beautiful flowers by The Country Garden Florist and little touches by Pretty Quirky Hire,  it looked simply stunning and made the perfect setting for a relaxed reception.

If you’ve been following my work for a while you’ll know I never pass up the chance to experiment with night photos, so seeing all the ambient lighting at Sissons that evening got me feeling super creative. Ellie and Steve were brilliant and really went the extra mile when it came to playing ball with my ideas, thank you so much guys! Anyway, that’s enough of me talking let’s get to the photos… enjoy!

“Georgi managed to capture the joy and happiness throughout our wedding day without being intrusive or the day becoming a photoshoot. Many of our guests commented throughout the day of how great she was.”
