Lucy & David’s Home Farm Wedding Photography

Lucy and David’s tipi wedding took place at Lucy’s childhood home near Peterborough in June 2016. There’s always something extra special about home-spun weddings and even more so when the venue is a family farm. Lucy and David wanted their wedding to be more like a big party than a traditional wedding and they definitely achieved this, in fact I’d say it was more like a wedding festival. Right up my street!

When I arrived at the farm on the morning of the wedding I thought I’d take a couple of minutes to check out the tipis, just to see how things were looking. I’m so glad I did because wow, there was a lot of beautiful detail to photograph there. Everything from a home-made crazy golf course (courtesy of Lucy’s brother),  hand-written book quotations on each table, a very tempting sweetie table, gorgeous milk-churn floral arrangements and shepherd’s hut decked out as a children’s playroom for the younger guests. I remember wondering how I’d ever get everything photographed in time for the wedding!  Thankfully I did and, along with the ever-wonderful Olivia as my second shooter, we had a total ball shooting Lucy and David’s day. The ominous cloud which dominated the morning gave way to glorious warm sun just in time for Lucy and David’s arrival at the party and the atmosphere was truly buzzing. With Lucy and David asking for very few formal photos it was great to have the freedom to roam and capture so many natural images of their wedding day without feeling the pressure of endless group photos. Honestly, if you’re looking to get a great series of natural images like these the informal wedding route is definitely the one to follow. I’m sure Lucy and David will agree.
