Sarah & Nik’s Fusion Wedding at Winstanley House
Sarah and Nik’s wedding was a beautiful, bustling fusion of English and Indian traditions. I loved how they described their plans when we first met, and was so excited for their wedding day in August 2019.
I’ve photographed a couple of fusion weddings before and really enjoy the thrill of chasing all the exciting moments they let loose. Sarah and Nik’s itinerary was pretty jam-packed, with an early church service in Leicester followed by a delicious welcome breakfast at Winstanley House, before a swift outfit change and a stunning Hindu ceremony in the afternoon. I’ve never photographed a full Hindu ceremony before, so found the step-by-step order of service (specially designed by Sarah’s sister) incredibly useful so I knew what to expect. At busy weddings like this a second shooter is pretty essential, so we had my colleague Roxy come and join us for the day.
Sarah and Nik were pretty savvy about their group photos, and together we made sure their list would be manageable in the little pockets of time to spare. The weather was a little wild with strong winds gusting, but we managed to find a few minutes of late evening sun for their couple pictures later on. I’m sure Sarah & Nik will agree it was worth the mad dash to get outside before the sky clouded over, and the resulting shots at the end of this post are among my absolute favourites from 2019.
This is the sort of wedding where I’d have to write an essay to adequately cover everything that happened, so I’ll stick to the basics here and let the pictures tell the story. Enjoy!
