The Wedding Industry Awards 2018 : East Midlands Best Wedding Photographer

So last Tuesday was just a typical weekday in my office. Answering emails, editing and planning next year’s shoots. I was actually just clocking off for the evening when a quick glance at my messages stopped me in my tracks – I’d just been Highly Commended for the East Midland’s Best Wedding Photographer in the Wedding Industry Awards.

I can’t even begin to explain what a huge honour that is and how happy I was when I heard. The Wedding Industry Awards are pretty special because client feedback plays a huge roll in deciding the winners. The first round of voting comes from couples whose detailed comments give you an overall score. This score is then compared with other photographers in your region and if you rank high you make it through to the finals. From there an overall winner is chosen by a judging panel as your work and feedback is looked at in more detail.

When I’ve taken part in these awards in previous years I’ve been thrilled to just make it through to the finals, so to actually be placed amongst the winners for the first time is incredible.

While I’m desperately trying not to make this sound like an Oscars speech I would really like to say a massive thank you to all the couples who took the time to vote for me and left so many wonderful comments. It’s fab to win but it means more knowing that everyone has been so happy with their photos.

Can’t wait to get stuck into 2018 and see what next year brings! x

Every year, totally predictably, my new year’s resolutions are the same. Quit eating chocolate, start running again and share my work more often.  And as is typical for new year’s resolutions, I just can’t seem to stick to them. While dashing about at weddings all summer partially makes up for not running 10k and ...Read More
