Secret Garden Tipi Wedding

I was so excited for Kelly & Toby’s wedding in August 2014 I could barely sleep the night before. Thats not an exaggeration either and I’m sure you’ll see why in the blog post below…

Kelly and Toby wanted a totally non-traditional wedding. No frills, no fuss and, unusually for me as a wedding photographer, no posed photos at all (I did persuade them to do a few couple shots though!). The theme of the wedding was unintentional (according to Kelly) but to my eyes it hand a hint of vintage Americana. Kelly teamed her dress with funky cowboy boots and Toby wore denim, chinos and a tweed waistcoat, the colours really looked great against the pale stone of Normanton Church.  I was joined by second shooter Olivia in the morning to help capture everyones arrivals, as Kelly walked down to the church whilst Toby and the guests would travel by boat (the Rutland Belle). It was pretty unusual travelling to a wedding by boat and made for some great photos. Their tipi wedding reception took place at the Secret Garden in Wymington, Northamptonshire, and was packed full of pretty little details which they had designed totally by themselves. Kelly and Toby are the brains behind White Cottage Weddings you see, a wedding stationery and prop-hire company based in nearby Rushden. Definitely worth checking them out if you’re looking for some fantastic wedding stationery for your own day. A real highlight of their wedding was a surprise appearance by the Doritos Mariachi band who got everyone and dancing, I particularly love the photos of Kelly and Toby’s ‘first dance’ in the woods. I hope you enjoy browsing through this very relaxed and quirky Rutland Wedding!

It’s no secret that Normanton Church is one of my all-time favourite wedding venues. It truly is stunning and pretty unique as venues go in the UK, a de-consecrated church which seems to float majestically on Rutland Water. I was thrilled to go back there for Amy and Stewart’s wedding in May 2017 and it Read More
