I’d been looking forward to Kelly and Chris’ Rutland wedding since I got their very first email way back in July 2015. It’s always exciting when you receive a wedding enquiry with lots of detail and after reading their first message I was sold!
Kelly and Chris’ wedding took place at Normanton Church and Broccoli Bottom in Rutland on the 3rd of June 2016. The date itself was very special to them as it marked their 10 year anniversary together – they met back in their school days and have been together ever since. In fact they even chose the same band who performed at their school prom (‘The Houndogs‘) to play at their wedding too, incredibly sweet!
Kelly had mentioned some of her plans for decorating the marquee at Broccoli Bottom but I was totally bowled away when I saw it for myself. Just…. wow! So much work had gone into everything, from sourcing rustic watering cans as centre-pieces, crafting pretty photo frames as table names and creating miles and miles of bunting to boot. Chris’ mum made super-cute jars of jams and pickle as wedding favours and also created a fab tipi photo-booth. It was truly a team effort.
I was so happy to be a part of this gorgeous wedding, not only was it beautifully styled but everyone there was a total joy to work with. I must say I was particularly impressed by Kelly’s grandma who totally upstaged the band on the dance floor. What a dancer! I hope you enjoy browsing through some of the pictures and maybe feel inspired by some of their ideas for your own DIY wedding.

It’s no secret that Normanton Church is one of my all-time favourite wedding venues. It truly is stunning and pretty unique as venues go in the UK, a de-consecrated church which seems to float majestically on Rutland Water. I was thrilled to go back there for Amy and Stewart’s wedding in May 2017 and it Read More
