Way back in 2012 I photographed the wedding of two friends in London and remember photographing two particularly smiley guests during the speeches. They were so expressive and happy (great for any photographer) so I was over the moon when Nicola and Matt booked me as their wedding photographer too.
Set against the iconic London skyline, Nicola and Matt tied the knot at the Marriott County Hall on the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. Nicola wore a stunning lace gown by Claire Pettibone, its delicate floral details reflecting the wedding’s over-arching botanical theme.
Being the first warm and sunny weekend of the year London was packed to bursting, and as we walked along Nicola and Matt seemed to become London’s newest tourist attraction. I’m sure they featured in many eager tourists’ holiday snaps that day.
There were also a few delightfully unexpected elements to Nicola and Matt’s wedding, two of which turned into great photo opportunities. The first was a surprise announcement that the Garden Museum would be hosting a spectacular art exhibition by Rebecca Louise Law, whereby thousands of flowers were to be suspended from the venue’s ceiling directly above the wedding breakfast. What a way to add a bit of drama to your floristry! The second surprise was the fire alarm being set off during the wedding breakfast, which started with a bit of a flurry but ended in laughter and cheers as Nicola was swept off her feet by a dashing fireman (and then recused by her new husband!).
I really hope you enjoy viewing their pictures as much as I love looking at them and I’d also like to thank the fabulous Maxeen who attended as an awesome second shooter. I still smile thinking about this day!
