Gemma and Tom’s gorgeous summer wedding took place at two of my favourite wedding venues in Rutland – Normanton Church and Barnsdale Gardens. Now it’s fair to say colourful and creative weddings always get me extra excited, but add in two stunning locations like this and I’m in photography heaven!
When Gemma and Tom got in touch about their wedding last year it was clear they had something really special in mind. Gemma is a professional illustrator with a background in events management and her hard work was clear to see on the day. She made all the beautiful stationery and table decorations, in fact if you’re on Intsagram I’d really recommend checking out her work (@gemmaallenillustration).
Now Normanton Church has got to be one of the dreamiest places to get married in Rutland. With the church almost floating on the water surrounded by big open skies it has a really unique feeling. I always like to work with a second shooter for Normanton Church weddings as it’s a very tricky venue to shoot on your own, so this time I was joined by regular second shooter Olivia to help capture the day. We were so lucky with the weather as the previous day had been non-stop downpours, but the sun shone brightly all day for Gemma and Tom. This was especially nice for the drinks reception at Barnsdale Gardens with all their guests outside enjoying the stunning surroundings. Barnsdale Gardens only hosts a small number of weddings each year and I think you can really tell how much they love making everything run smoothly for their couples. It’s definitely not a wedding factory and that makes things so much more personal.
We had such a fab day working with Gemma and Tom and I’m really pleased to share a selection of their photos with you today. Enjoy!

It’s no secret that Normanton Church is one of my all-time favourite wedding venues. It truly is stunning and pretty unique as venues go in the UK, a de-consecrated church which seems to float majestically on Rutland Water. I was thrilled to go back there for Amy and Stewart’s wedding in May 2017 and it Read More

I’d been looking forward to Kelly and Chris’ Rutland wedding since I got their very first email way back in July 2015. It’s always exciting when you receive a wedding enquiry with lots of detail and after reading their first message I was sold! Kelly and Chris’ wedding took place at Normanton Church and Broccoli Read More

I feel very lucky to meet so many lovely couples and I knew I’d enjoy working with Kay and Gareth from the moment we met. Their Uppingham wedding took place at Uppingham School in Rutland, an unusual and beautiful venue complete with its own chapel and big open courtyards. The vibe was very relaxed with a vintage Read More

As a wedding photographer in Rutland, I’ve been waiting to shoot a wedding at Barnsdale Gardens for a long time. This venue only hosts a few weddings each year, so I was incredibly pleased when Jodie and Kieran got in touch about their wedding plans for June 2015. Jodie and Kieran wanted their wedding to Read More

As I recently relocated to the area I thought I’d share some of my favourite Rutland weddings to celebrate the beauty of the UK’s smallest county. If you’re getting married in Oakham, Uppingham or Read More
