As a wedding photographer in Rutland, I’ve been waiting to shoot a wedding at Barnsdale Gardens for a long time. This venue only hosts a few weddings each year, so I was incredibly pleased when Jodie and Kieran got in touch about their wedding plans for June 2015.
Jodie and Kieran wanted their wedding to be a bit different. No formal halls or stuffy hotels for them, instead they wanted to spend the whole day outside in the beautiful setting of Barnsdale Gardens in Rutland – come rain or shine. And luckily, after days of heavy rain, the sun shone all day for their wedding in June 2015, allowing them to really enjoy the gardens and all its unique features.
The day began with Jodie and Kieran’s legal ceremony in the Paradise Gardens watched by their closest family and friends, after which they celebrated with an open-air humanist ceremony on the Versailles lawn with the full guest list. The atmosphere was so happy and relaxed, it was definitely the kind of wedding I’d like to be a guest at someday. Jodie and Kieran put a lot of thought into the styling of their wedding too, with the big beautiful tipis decked out with colourful lanterns, bunting and table settings hand crafted by Jodie and her mum. I really loved how the key colours of red, yellow, green and blue worked inside the tipi, and it was sweet to see they’d even prepared emergency ponchos and colourful umbrellas *just in case* it decided to rain outside.
There’s a lot more I could say about this wedding, but I think the pictures tell the story better than I can in words. I hope you enjoy browsing through a selection of their photos.
Are you looking for a Barnsdale Gardens Wedding Photographer? If so please do pop me an email with your name, date and a few details about you and what you’ve got in mind for your day. I’d love to shoot here again.

It’s no secret that Normanton Church is one of my all-time favourite wedding venues. It truly is stunning and pretty unique as venues go in the UK, a de-consecrated church which seems to float majestically on Rutland Water.
